MobileBooks 1.2 is well on it’s way. This version is mainly a UI refresh, but it feels very polished this time around.
Green Lite Means Go
Apple gave us the thumbs up on MobileBooks Lite today, so those of you itching to use the app but reluctant to buy just to try, can now do so without affecting your pocketbook. The one and only difference between lite and full is that in lite all PDFs that are generated and sent off have “Trial Version” printed in big, bold, red letters. Though we felt the previous solution was better, we had to make due with this to get that green light. And trust us, seeing the green light makes us rejoice!
Now it’s time to get the next version of MobileBooks ready. See you soon.
“Lite” Rejected
Our apologies to those of you waiting for the Lite version of MobileBooks to be released so that you could try it out. After over two weeks in review we received a rejection email from Apple this evening.
We limited the Lite version to creating a total of three orders. We feel it’s reasonable. Prospective buyers can test the application out in it’s entirety. Heck, they can even keep those three orders up indefinitely and never pay for the full version of the app if they don’t want to. That’s not how the application is intended to work, but it still would. So Apple’s reason?
MobileBooks Lite cannot be posted because it is a feature-limited version. Free or “Lite” versions are acceptable, however the application must be a fully functional app and cannot reference features that are not implemented or up-sell to the full version.
After creating 3 orders, the “New” button on the Order page only displays an alert and is no longer functional. See attached screenshot.
Please upload a new binary and correct metadata using iTunes Connect <http://itunesconnect.apple.com/>.

****************************
I think it’s worth pointing out that the original version of MobileBooks was rejected by Apple a couple of times. Each time because we had used Apple related graphic symbols. And for each of those rejection emails there was a link to specific rule it violated. But here? No such luck. We got caught by one of those reviewers that needed to meet their rejection quota for the day so they could go home.
So our apologies to those of you wanting to test out the app before deciding whether or not to invest in it. Hopefully we’ll have an answer for you soon on that.
